Chuck Dowd spent 35 years serving the people of New York City, retiring as an Assistant Chief of the NYPD. Along the way, he commanded the nation's busiest 911 system through some of the most difficult days in American history, including September 11th and Hurricane Sandy.
Today, as a board member of FirstNet, he works at the intersection of public safety and technology. Now he's ready to bring that same calm, data-driven leadership home to Hilton Head Island.
From 9/11 to Hurricane Sandy, Chuck led complex emergency operations with discipline, accountability, and a steady hand when it mattered most.
As a FirstNet board member, Chuck helps shape the nationwide communications network that first responders rely on every day.
Chuck applies practical management and measurable, data-driven thinking to the issues that shape daily life on the island.
